Solutions to Thousands of Asylum Seekers at the U.S.-Mexico Border Mendoza Immigration Addresses Title 42

SACRAMENTO – Title 42 is a pandemic-era policy that, for nearly three years, allows the U.S. federal government to turn away migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, including those who are seeking asylum. Without court intervention, the policy is set to expire next week, which may lead to border officials and immigration processing centers to face overcapacity and other issues all along the southern border.

In the last few months, tens of thousands of asylum seekers have turned themselves in at the border, overwhelming border patrol, local authorities, non-profit organizations, shelters, attorneys, volunteers, and migrant assistant centers. El Paso County Commissioner, David Stout, told ABC News they are asking the federal government for resources to deal with the influx of migrants at the border. “We have submitted a request to FEMA for $32 million for the year to cover the cost of operations for a migrant support services center that we have, increase shelter capacity, and transportation,” said Stout. “These folks are applying for asylum protections and that is a legal way to immigrate to this country. We should try to help them as they continue on their journey.”

One of the major challenges government entities, attorneys, and organizations face while assisting asylum seekers at the border is the man-power time it takes to complete the paperwork. It can take several hours, even days, for a trained individual to complete an asylum submission. Mendoza Immigration developed proprietary technology providing a solution. “Our self-help tool allows the user to complete an asylum submission packet within an average of 15-20 minutes,” said Elias Mendoza, founder of Mendoza Immigration. “We understand the crisis that organizations at the border helping asylum seekers are set to face, and we want to help speed up processing times at immigration centers. In addition, our team is prepared to use our technology to help asylum seekers at not cost with the first important part of the asylum submission - verifying eligibility and completing their credible fear declarations.”
